PUBLIC BETA · UPDATED 18 OCTOBER 2026
Privacy, in plain language.
JotHarbour support and privacy contact is provided below. This notice covers the public JotHarbour website and browser notebook, version 0.6. Desktop and mobile browser installation is covered by the same notice.
What stays in your browser
Drawings, page notes, imported conversations, extracted reference text and solution sheets are stored using IndexedDB in the browser profile you use. The landing-page demo has a separate store. PDF, DOCX and text files are processed locally; document contents are not uploaded to the publisher or an AI provider. Original files remain in the location you selected. Notebook exports include extracted text and page images.
What travels over the network
The host processes ordinary requests needed to deliver and protect the website, including network addresses and request metadata. We have not added an analytics script, advertising tracker, email collection, payment checkout or JotHarbour user account. This does not mean the hosting infrastructure keeps no logs.
The public browser app has AI off and accepts no API keys. If you choose external web search, it asks for confirmation before opening Google with your typed question. That question is then handled under Google’s own practices. Your page image and reference documents are excluded. Following an external link also contacts that website.
Offline files and retention
A service worker caches the app interface, fonts and PDF-reader resources where supported. The notebook reports when its offline files are ready. Notes stay until you clear them or the browser removes stored data. There is no server backup, account recovery or automatic device sync. Browser storage is not separately encrypted by JotHarbour.
Storage protection and backups
The notebook can request persistent storage using your browser’s storage controls. The browser can grant or deny this request. Persistence helps protect against automatic eviction; clearing site data, losing the device or a browser failure can still remove your work. Installing the app does not replace a backup.
The app stores the time you last requested a notebook export on this device. It cannot verify that your browser saved the file to disk. A reminder appears if no export is recorded or seven days have passed. This status stays on the device and is not sent to us.
Your controls
Export notebook downloads a backup. Open imports additional pages and sheets. Delete individual pages or entries, or choose Privacy → Clear notebook inside the app to remove workspace and demo records from this browser. Browser site-data controls also remove stored work and offline files. Close other app tabs when clearing data. Delete exported files separately; copies you shared are outside this app’s control.
Audience
This first public beta is for adults, including adult students and professionals. A children’s service and supervised school rollout are pending privacy and safeguarding review. No independent security audit, regulatory certification or child-safety guarantee is claimed.
Privacy questions and concerns
Contact JotHarbour support at jotharbour.support@gmail.com for support, privacy questions or security concerns. You may prepare a report file and attach it to an email yourself. Preparing or downloading a report does not send it. Please exclude private documents, passwords, API keys and sensitive personal information. Email is processed by Gmail and your chosen email provider; sending an email shares its contents and sender details with those services and the publisher. This website has no automatic report-submission backend.
Changes to AI, accounts, hosted uploads, billing or analytics will require updated disclosures and the relevant controls. They are not enabled in this release.
